Bringing Yoga Home with Jinjer Stanton
Based on her book, “Yoga for Every Room in Your House,” Jinjer’s workshop will be about ways to fit yoga into the time and space you have using the furniture that is normally in the way as props. Jinjer’s column in The Edge: Soul of the Cities is also titled, “Bringing Yoga Home.”
“ . . . Jinjer is a natural and comfortable instructor. Her workshop included hands-on techniques and exercises that can be modified to any body or space. Her flexible approach embodies the spirit of yoga that many instructors miss. Her approach is down-to-earth and oriented towards how yoga can help you and fit into your life– not how you need to change to become a yogi. She also incorporates historical background, inspirational phrases and food for thought. These make the workshop go beyond a how-to to something deeper. I was thinking about her words and her approach for weeks following the workshop. Our audience included teenagers . . . as well as women and men in their 30’s to 60’s. Everyone participated. Our copy of Yoga for Every Room in Your House is now always checked out. It will come back for a day, we’ll display it on our New Books shelf, and it will be checked out once again.” – Lisa M.
